Two first-half goals from Ahmed Sedik and Osama Hosni gave Ahli a 2-0 victory over Algeria's JS Kabylie in their African Champions League game on Saturday as Group A got more tangled.

Sedik opened the score line nine minutes from the break with a curly free-kick before skipper Hosni sealed the victory just before the interval.

After this result, the group's four teams have three points, with Asante Kotoko, who crushed Sfaxien 4-2 earlier on the same day, on top leading second-place Ahli on goal difference.

Kabylie are third and Tunisia's Sfaxien were left in fourth spot.

The African champions played the game without eight of their starting players in all positions and coach Manuel Jose was forced to field a second-string lineup.

Ahli started the game in an explosive style and rocked the visitors on their heels, with Mohamed Shawki kept Gaouaoui busy saving his two attempts in the first ten minutes.

Hosni almost opened the score line in the 33rd minute but he saw his header blocked by the crossbar.

Kabylie's tested Ahli keeper Essam Al-Hadari only once with a long-range shot from Yacef Hamza but the Egyptian international saved it with ease.

In the 36th minute, Sedik stepped up to curl a stinging free-kick that sailed over the wall and went into the left top corner of Lounes Gaouaoui's net.

Hosni slotted in an empty net on the rebound just before the interval after Sedik's powerful shot was cannoned of the post.

Hamza was Kabylie's dangerman in the second period and unleashed two bullets but Al-Hadari palmed both of them away to corner-kicks.

Mohamed Shawki could stretched the lead in the dying seconds from a free-kick but it went just wide.
