"It is a big blow for us," coach Martin Jol said on the official website this Sunday afternoon.
"Ledley is out with suspected cartilage problems and he could be out for six to eight weeks."
The 25-year-old defender was dropped from England's World Cup squad due to a fractured metatarsal earlier this year.
An initial scan of the knee found possible cartilage damage. The latest injury will deny new England boss Steve McClaren a chance to test out the defender in his first friendly in-charge against Greece on August 16th.
McClaren will also have to do without his star player during the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Andorra and Macedonia in September.
Calum Davenport will play for King; however Tottenham is struggling with recent injuries. Andy Reid, Paul Stalteri and Jermaine Jenas are all on the injured list, while Anthony Gardner is fit, but not playing.
