Juventus defender Igor Tudor believes that his side will be promoted to Serie A this season in spite of the 17-point deduction.

"I think playing in Serie B would only be for one year," Tudor was quoted as saying by Calcio Italia on Tuesday.

"I am convinced that with this team it would be fairly easy to finish first or second and be promoted directly to Serie A, even with a 17-point deduction."

Tudor was one of the players who held on to Juventus although the club was slammed with a relegation penalty after being found guilty in the match-fixing scandal that rocked the Italian football.

Tudor, however, has no plans of leaving the fallen Italian giants, who he joined in 1998 even though they loaned him out in winter to Siena.

Even with his positive outlook, Tudor remains firm that the team needed its experienced players in order to climb their way back to Serie A.

"It's important that all players remain here, but the club has already guaranteed that they will and I have no reason to believe that will not be the case," the Croatian said.

"Some of my old teammates have left, but many are still here and it's nice to work with them again."

Juventus have already lost the prowess of Fabio Cannavaro, Emerson, Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta to other European clubs while Patrick Vieira has confirmed he is on his way out.

The 28-year-old Tudor is ready for a new challenge on the field, and has said he's already discussed with the new boss Didier Deschamps his changing role for the team.

"I have already spoken to the Coach and we both believe I should play as a central defender, which is the role I prefer," he added.

"I am very proud to be here and I will work hard to show that I deserve a place in the team."
