Masri secure top flight status

An outstanding second-half performance from Masri earned them a 3-1 home victory over Tanta in the Egyptian League on Friday to restore their balance after collapsing in the season opener.

Ahmed Hafez put the Port Said side ahead in the 66th minute, before Mohamed Tolba equalized for Tanta six minutes later.

But two goals from Saied Rabie and Cameroonian Oumarou Sanda in the 82nd and 86th minutes sealed the victory for Masri, who took their first three points of the season after a 3-0 defeat to Ismaili in the league opener.

Elsewhere, Mohamed Al-Yamani scored twice to lead Ittihad Alexandria to a hard-fought 2-1 home win over Asyut Petroleum.

Al-Yamani netted a brace in the first-half before Amr Serri scored the consolation for Asyut Petroleum in the 64th minute.

In other matches, newly-promoted side Petrojet grabbed their second successive win after beating Olympic 3-1 and Tersana were held to a 1-1 draw with 10-man Al-Gaish.
