Gomaa vs. Spain

Egypt slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Uruguay in a friendly game that took place in Alexandria on Wednesday.

Diego Goodin broke the deadlock seven minutes past the hour mark before Abdul-Zaher Al-Saqqa's own goal sealed the victory for Uruguay.

The friendly defeat is Egypt's second since the African Cup of Nations triumph after losing to Spain 2-0 prior to the World Cup.

Egypt coach Hassan Shehata fielded second-string players as many players were missing through injury while Uruguay played with a full strength side.

Zamalek striker Amr Zaki almost put Egypt ahead after just three minutes when he headed Ahmed Abou-Mosalam's inch-perfect cross just wide.

Ten minutes later, Ahmed Hassan escaped his marker and received Abdul-Halim Ali's header inside the area but his close-range shot was blocked by Uruguay keeper Fabian Carini.

Zaki had another chance in the 23rd minute when he connected with Hassan's free-kick to head the ball over the bar.

In the 55th minute, Ahmed Fathi raced down the right flank before sending a low cross to Ali but Carini tipped the ball away.

Goodin opened the score in the 67th minute when he met Fabian Estoyanoff's corner with a diving header into the back of the net.

Ahmed Eid wasted a golden opportunity to level the score in the 80th minute after collecting a loose ball inside the area but his poor shot went easily into Carini's hands.

Uruguay ensured the win seven minutes from time when Al-Saqqa converted Estoyanoff's low cross into his own net.
