Bayern Munich coach Felix Magath said he was glad to see his side recover from their slow start to crush Spartak Moscow 4-0 in their UEFA Champions League Group B match on Tuesday.

"You could see that we made a bad start to this one," Magath said in the post-game conference.

"But this game came after a very tough Cup match at the weekend, when we had to play 120 minutes against St Pauli."

"Our opponents were also very aggressive in the first half and I think that's why we found it hard," he said. "But I'm delighted with the win. It's obviously a great result for us."

Second-half goals from Claudio Pizarro, Roque Santa Cruz, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Hasan Salihamidzic handed the Bavarians their first three points in the group.

"Once we got the early breakthrough in the second half the goals kept on coming. I think at times we played to our full potential.

"It was very good to see the forwards Pizarro and Santa Cruz getting amongst the goals," Magath added.

Magath was also glad to see his main contenders, Inter, fall to Sporting Lisbon.

"I think the Sporting Lisbon win was a very good result for us as well," the Bayern boss said.

"It means Inter are going to be under a lot of pressure when we play there in the next game, and it will mean they have to attack."
