An Egyptian court acquitted former Zamalek president Mortada Mansour who was sentenced to 6 months for defamation of Ahli president Hassan Hamdi.

Hamdi had filed a lawsuit against Mansour for verbally assaulting him on national television in the aftermath of an Ahli-Zamalek clash last season.

Mansour filed an appeal to another court that turned down the first ruling but fined him EGP 10,000.

The former Zamalek president said that he will abide by the second court's ruling but noted that the fine was "exaggerated".
