Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham said stressed on Tuesday that he respects coach Fabio Capello's decision to relegate him to the bench.

"I can't complain because I'm not in the starting line-up," Beckham was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"There are lots of players on the bench in the same circumstances."

Former England captain Beckham suffers hard times as he was also dropped from the national team squad after the World Cup.

He was in the starting 11 of Capello's side before the Italian manager opted to field Jose Antonio Reyes, who joined from Arsenal on a swap deal that included Julio Baptista.

But Beckham vowed to continue working hard to restore his starting spot.

"Reyes is a fantastic player and I can understand why he is playing," the 31-year-old winger said.

"I will have to adapt to the new situation and work hard to win Capello's confidence."
