Holland striker Dirk Kuyt is doubtful for his side's game against Albania on Wednesday in the Euro 2008 qualifiers due to an ankle injury, coach Marco van Basten said.

"His leg gave way underneath him. It doesn't look good," Van Basten was quoted as saying by BBC Sport after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Bulgaria.

The Liverpool striker was forced to leave the pitch in the 16th minute after collecting the injury in Sofia.

Robin van Persie was promoted to a deeper role up front and he managed to score to give Holland a 1-1 draw.

Kuyt, 26, joined Liverpool from Feyenoord in the summer and scored twice in six starts so far.
