Zizou's red card not forgotten
Argentina's best referee Horacio Elizondo, who officiated the World Cup final earlier this year, announced that he will work in the Qatari League this season.
"Qatari officials have hired me to take charge of a number of games in the league," the 43-year-old referee told reporters in Buenos Aires on Monday.
Elizondo is famous for showing Zinedine Zidane a straight red card in the final after the France captain head-butt Marco Materazzi in the chest.
He was also the referee who sent Wayne Rooney off during the England-Portugal clash in the quarter-finals of the same tournament.
Elizondo is seen as the most prominent referee in Argentina and was appointed to referee Boca Juniors vs. River Plate game eight times.
