"We decided to sell the player's contract to get rid of his troubles following his refusal to sign a new contract," Zamalek board member Ahmed Tawfiq Hafez said late on Sunday.
"His father (and agent) asked for EGP two millions per season, which is an impossible fee to pay," Hafez added to FilGoal.com.
Eno has reportedly reached a deal with Ahli for a move in the summer when his current contract with Zamalek expires.
He was subjected to angry chants from Zamalek fans in the 4-0 victory over Tanta and in a previous friendly against Police Union.
The supporters believe Eno will be the third player to depart to their arch-rivals in just two seasons after defender Mohamed Sedik and co-captain Tarek Al-Saied did in the close season.
But Hafez said placing Eno on the transfer list will give Zamalek the maximum benefit of the move instead of leaving him go for free after the season ends.
"We have learnt our lessons well and what happened with Sedik and Al-Saied won't be repeated," he said.
