Werder Bremen will be without skipper Baumann when they host Levski Sofia in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

"Baumann's Achilles problems have worsened since the match on Saturday against Bochum," Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf told Werder's official website on Tuesday.

Bremen, who thrashed Bochum on Saturday to top the Bundesliga table, will also be without star midfielder Tim Borowski.

"Even though Tim (Borowski) was able to train with the team on Tuesday, his range of movements is not yet what it needs to be.

"Thus, we've decided not to provoke any further injury and let him take a break," he added.

On the other hand, Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan has returned to the squad after sitting out Saturday’s match through injury.

Bremen are in third place in their Champions League Group A with one point from a draw against champions Barcelona.
