"This time we saw a team with quality and spirit out there and that is what counts.
"Now I'm happy," the Italian boss told Real Madrid’s website after the match.
Real Madrid recovered from a stunning1-0 defeat against Getafe in the Primera Liga on Saturday to produce a hefty away win.
"I said we had to forget the performance against Getafe because we can't play like that ever again. Instead we saw a Real Madrid that placed with pace and skill,” said Capello.
Sergio Ramos opened Real’s account with a deft header from a 10th minute header from a 10th minute corner.
Raul scored his 54th Champions League goal in the 34th minute when he pounced on Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s shot that rebounded from Steaua’s keeper for Real’s second.
Brazilian forward Robinho made it three for Real Madrid from a swift counter attack in the 56th minute.
Valentin Badea pulled one back for the home side in the 64th minute before Van Nistelrooy sealed the win with a fantastic looping ball in the 76th minute.
"I was pleased with the football we played because it isn't easy to come here and win by such a margin," added the former Juventus boss.
Real Madrid are in second place in their Group E on 6 points.
