The Spain international has been on track to regain his top form and scored some crucial goals for the Royal club so far this season, but insists he had doubts about his future.
"Sometimes things aren't as rosy as they appear," Raul told Spanish sports daily Marca.
"You suffer when things aren't going well and you see things going on that you don't like...I simply wanted to talk to the president and tell him about my doubts.
The 29-year-old striker did in fact meet with Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon who assured him of his place with the team.
"As a result of that conversation my doubts were dispelled because I saw he still had confidence in me and valued what I was doing," he said.
On the other hand, Raul supported coach Fabio Capello’s decision to suspend and fine teammate Antonio Cassano after last weekend's victory over Gimnastic.
"It's a matter for the club and you have to accept the rules of the internal code of behavior," said Raul.
The Spanish capital club described the decision as "an act of indiscipline showing a lack of respect to the coach" after the 24-year-old insulted his coach.
"I think we have to work hard for one another, be humble and work to the same objective and be aware we are at a great club," added the Real captain.
