AFC reveal nominees for Asian best player award

The Asian Football Confederation 'AFC' has announced on Friday the list of nominees for the 2006 Asian footballer of the year.

The Asian Football Confederation 'AFC' has announced on Friday the list of nominees for the 2006 Asian footballer of the year.

The list included eight Arab players from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and Palestine.

The winner will be revealed on the 29th of December in UAE city Abou Dhabi.

Ittihad Jeddah defender Hamad Al Montashari is the last player to have claimed the award in 2005.

The nominees:

Badr Al Mutawa (Qadsia, Kuwait), Essa Al Mahiyani (Al Wehda, Saudi Arabia), Fahed Attal (Palestine), Hawar Mulla Mohamed (Iraq and Apollon, Cyprus), Ibraguim Rabimov (Tajikistan and Regar - Tadaz), Ismael Matar (Al Wehda, UAE), Khalfan Ibrahim (Al Sadd, Qatar), Lionel Lewis (Home United, Singapore), Mohamed Al Shlhoub (Al Hilal, Saudi Arabia), Younis Mahmood (Iraq and Al Gharafa)
