AEK stunned Milan

AEK Athens grabbed a historic 1-0 victory over Milan in their Champions League Group H match as Ahmed Hassan's Anderlecht tied Lille 2-2 to crash out of the tournament.

Despite the defeat, Milan remained at the top of the group with 10 points as AEK's second victory ever in the group stage moved them up to second spot with seven points.

Lille, whose lead slipped away twice, are still in the race with six points while Anderlecht bowed out with just three points from five games.

In Athens, Julio Cesar scored a memorable first-half goal to seal the precious victory for the Greeks.

The Brazilian stepped up to curl a brilliant free-kick that eluded his compatriot Dida and went into the back of the net in the 32nd minute.

Milan attacked furiously after the break but AEK hang on to protect their slender lead.

In France, Anderlecht came from behind twice to tie Lille but it wasn't enough to stay on course for a place in the knock-out stage.

Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie put Lille ahead in the 28th minute with an unstoppable left-footer.

Egypt skipper Hassan set up Mbo Mpenza ten minutes later for the equalizer as the Anderlecht striker's shot hit the post and sailed home.

In the 47th minute, Nicolas Fauvergue restored the lead when he fired into the right top corner from the edge of the area but Mpenza, who was doubtful for the game, squeezed a low shot past Tony Sylva.
