Arsenal and Porto played out a goalless draw to advance together to the UEFA Champions League knockout stage after CSKA Moscow slipped against Hamburg on Wednesday.

The result means Arsenal and Porto are tied at the summit of Group G on 11 points, but the Gunners claim top spot thanks to the head to head system.

Both teams looked confident of qualification as the rhythm of the match was mostly laid back.

Porto were the more dangerous side in the second half with Quaresma firing two shots that cannoned off Jens Lehman's post.

Elsewhere, CSKA Moscow settled for a UEFA Cup spot after falling 3-2 to Hamburg in Germany.

Ivica Olic fired CSKA ahead in the 23rd minute from a penalty kick but Besart Berisha equalized for the home side five minutes later.

Yuri Zhirkov regained the lead for the Russians five minutes the hour before goals from Rafael van der Vaart and Boubacar Sanogo handed Hamburg their first win of the group stage.

The result halted CSKA's tally at 8 points while Hamburg increased theirs to three but remained in last place.
