A last-gasp header by Alberto Gilardino earned AC Milan a 2-2 away draw with Fiorentina in the Serie A on Saturday.

Gilardino initially fired Milan in front early in the first-half but a brace from Adrian Mutu put Fiorentina ahead.

But the Italian international Gilardino secured a share of the spoils one minute from time.

Milan's crisis continues as they are in the 14th place of the Serie A table with 14 points, two points ahead of Fiorentina, who lie 16th.

Gilardino broke the deadlock as early as the fourth minute when he latched on to Cristian Brocchi's chip pass to slot home past Fiorentina keeper Sebastien Frey.

Fiorentina were awarded a penalty-kick in the 20th minute after Milan's Georgian defender Kakha Kaladze handled the ball inside the box.

Mutu stepped up and successfully converted it into the net past Australian keeper Zeljko Kalac.

He then added the second in the 75th minute when he was picked out unmarked by a cross from the left flank before poking home.

Gilardino secured a draw just before the final whistle after he towered to head a corner-kick into the back of the net.
