Ahli finished third in the 2006 edition

Club World Cup bronze medalists Ahli are in line for another historic reception in Cairo upon their arrival from Japan early on Tuesday.

Swarms of club supporters are expected to greet the Egyptian giants who will parade in the capital in an open-top bus to celebrate their achievement with the fans, Ahli board member Al-Amri Farouk told FilGoal.com on Monday.

Ahli won third place at the CWC that took place in Japan after beating Club America of Mexico 2-1 on Sunday.

The five-time African champions produced a 2-0 win over Auckland City FC of New Zealand in their opening game before losing 2-1 to eventual champions Internacional of Brazil in the semis.

Farouk said that the procession route, which will be from the airport to the club headquarters in Al-Gezira, has been agreed with Cairo police.

Ahli club will also open its doors for all the fans to celebrate the great success with the players.

“Ahli’s feat is unprecedented in Africa and the Arab world, therefore the celebration has to be exceptional,” said Farouk.

Ahli players had enjoyed a similar reception after beating Sfaxien of Tunisia in the African Champions League final in November.
