Marchena was quoted as saying by Spanish paper Marca that returning in January is a perfect time for him and that he is keen on contributing to the team's campaign.

He is set to travel to El Madrigal as Valencia play Villarreal, who miss their mastermind Juan Roman Riquelme on Sunday.

"Riquelme is a dangerous player but Villarreal have a strong squad and they will be motivated against Valencia especially at home," Marchena said.

The 27-year-old international sustained a serious knee injury in September during his side's league game with Getafe.

Valencia are sixth in the Spanish table with 27 points while Villarreal are 11th five point behind.
