A source close to the player told FilGoal.com on Friday that Belal arrived in Cairo and met Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri to discuss a possible deal.
The 26-year-old has also held talks with Mamdouh Abbas, chairman of Ahli's arch-rivals Zamalek, but couldn't reach an agreement, the source added.
Al-Badri assured Belal that Ahli are in need of a new striker after the latter expressed his worry that the Egyptian and African champions are trying to sign him just to deprive Zamalek of his services.
In case both parties reach a financial agreement, Belal will put pen-to-paper on a three-and-a-half year deal.
Belal was a revelation during his past spell with Ahli but a succession of injuries prompted Ahli to sell him to Konyaspor in the summer of 2005.
