Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson insisted on Friday that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sell, refuting reports linking the Portuguese winger with a move to Real Madrid.

Spanish media linked Ronaldo with a £35million move to the Spanish giants as speculation continue to surround the future of the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

Real striker and Ronaldo's former teammate Ruud van Nistelrooy said he would be happy to see the 21-year-old arrives at the Santiago Bernabeu.

But Ferguson has made it clear that Real have no chance to clinch the deal no matter how much they are willing to pay.

''We sell players we want to sell and there is absolutely no way Cristiano Ronaldo is leaving,'' the Scottish tactician was quoted as saying by Sky Sports Network.

''He is happy here. He has a contract until 2010 and we are not interested in even thinking about selling him.

''The boy has done fantastically well. He is developing as a professional, as a person and as a player.''

Ronaldo has been a revelation this season, scoring 13 goals for the Red Devils in the Premiership, just one short of top scorer Didier Drogba.
