Zidan named Bundesliga Player of the Week by Kicker

German sports magazine Kicker has named Mainz’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Zidan as the Bundesliga Player of the Week after his impressive display in his side's game against Energie Cottbus.

German sports magazine Kicker has named Mainz’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Zidan as the Bundesliga Player of the Week after his impressive display in his side's game against Energie Cottbus.

The Egypt international forward notched a hat-trick to help his side crush Cottbus 4-1 and climb to the safety zone in the Bundesliga table.

As a result, the 25-year-old collected 24 points to receive the best player award on Wednesday.

Zidan has been also included in Bundesliga's team of the week, leading the frontline along with Leverkusen’s Steffan Kiessling and Nurnberg’s Ivan Saenko.

Zidan moved to Mainz from Werder Bremen during the January transfer window after a disappointing spell under Tomas Schaaf.
