England manager Steve McClaren said he was considering recalling the old guard back to the national team ranks, including former captain David Beckham.

McClaren said that Beckham, defender Sol Campbell and keeper David James are among potential candidates to recalled to the Three Lions line-up.

"The door is still open for any player as long as he didn’t announce international retirement, Beckham, Campbell and James are meant by this," McClaren told Sky Sports.

Beckham hasn't been called up to represent England since McClaren took over as national coach succeeding Sven Goran Eriksson after the team’s quarter-final exit from 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

McClaren was impressed by the trio's recent performances.

"I've watched Portsmouth against Man United, Sol and James have done well, Beckham has also impressed with Real Madrid," said McClaren.

McClaren has assured that England are not having too much troubles at the moment as the team has already recovered from the 0-1 friendly defeat to Spain.

Beckham, Campbell and James might be called up to England's next crucial EURO 2008 qualifier against Israel in Tel Aviv.

England are currently third in Group E with seven points, three behind leaders Croatia.
