Veteran Swedish striker Henrik Larsson has confirmed that he will not extend his three month loan contract with Manchester United and that he will return to Helsingborgs in March.

"This is a great adventure for me," the 35-year-old ace told the Guardian newspaper on Tuesday.

"I arrived in January and I'm going home in March to play in Sweden. It suits me perfectly," he added

Larsson, whose short-term contract with United ends on March 12th, said that he means no disrespect to the Premiership giants, noting that he felt an obligation to return to Helsingborgs.

"I'm not saying that I'm not flattered or grateful to get the opportunity to extend my stay but there are other things I need to think about," he said.

"The Swedish season starts at the end of March. I need to get back for it," the prolific striker added

Larsson, who scored 2 goals in 8 appearances for Manchester United, stressed that his spell with United, although short, is very exciting.

"This is a great adventure for me,” said the 2006 UEFA Champions League winner with Barcelona.
