“Shawki twisted his knee during training this morning in a challenge with Tarek Al-Saied,” Ahli’s doctor Ehab Ali told FilGoal.com.
“He will be out for at least four weeks, it could even be six,” he added.
The injury means the combative midfielder will miss Ahli’s CAF Champions League match against Highlanders of Zimbabwe on Sunday.
Shawki joins Mohamed Abou-Treika, Osama Hosni, Mohamed Barakat and Gilberto in Ahli’s injury list.
The African champions begin their title defense away to Highlanders on Sunday March 4th. Ahli’s delegation is set to leave Cairo on Thursday.
