"We've agreed to let Akwetey join Ahli Dubai, he will train there for three days to negotiate contract terms with the club's officials," Al-Qaeyi told FilGoal.com.
Al-Qaeyi said Ahli haven't decided yet whether Akwetey will depart on a loan deal or not, however, he stated that everything will be agreed before the transfer window in UAE closes.
Ahli earlier rejected an offer from Dubai for their international midfielder Mohamed Shawki, offering the UAE side an option to sign Akwetey instead.
Ahli Dubai have been out of form in domestic competitions, they lie eighth in the league table, a position that led to the sack of German coach Winfried Schaefer.
