Zamalek midfielder Youssef Hamdi admitted that his side's arch-rivals Ahli are interested in acquiring his services after his contract expires next season.

Hamdi has become increasingly frustrated at lack of first-team football and is now considering his options.

"Ahli board member Mohamed Abdul-Wahab opened negotiations with me on behalf of his club," Hamdi told FilGoal.com on Thursday.

The 29-year-old voiced more than once his discontent with the right-back role that he was forced to play in since joining Zamalek from Ittihad Alexandria in 2005 although he is a natural playmaker.

"Abdul-Wahab assured me that I will play in my favorite position in case I join Ahli."

Hamdi, whose contract expires in the summer of 2008, said he is likely to accept the offer but insisted no final decision has been made yet.
