Real Betis said they will appeal the three-match stadium closure imposed by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) following the bottle-throwing incident in a Spanish cup game on Wednesday.

The RFEF made their decision after judging that the Seville derby incident, which saw Sevilla manager Juande Ramos knocked down unconscious by a bottle thrown from the stands, is a very serious offence.

The match was called off while Sevilla were leading 1-0 thanks to goal from Malian striker Frederic Kanoute

However, Betis lawyer Manuel Castano revealed the club's objection to the RFEF decision.

"We believe the ruling is unjust. We do not consider the incidents to be "very serious" and hence, we will present our case to the appeal commission" said Castano.

The Seville club will also appeal the decision to play the 33 minutes remaining from the game in the neutral ground of Getafe on March 20th.

"It's logical that the game needs to be completed, just as the game between Deportivo and Valencia was completed last season after it was suspended," Castano added

"What we don't understand is why the game needs to be played at a neutral ground."

A further investigation will be made by the RFEF to question the behavior of both club's presidents whose fuming comments before the game seem to have raised tensions between supporters.
