Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Magdi’s Atromitos FC have caused a major upset in the Greek League with a 2-1 away victory at the expense of local giants Panathinaikos at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

The victory was described by the club's official site as the 'greatest in club's history' as it’s the first time for Atromitos to record an away win against one of the 'Old Time' high-profile trio in Greece (Panathinaikos, Olympiakos and AEK Athens).

Atromitos broke out of the relegation zone as they climbed four spots with the win to reach 8th place on 34 points while Panathinaikos remain third, trailing leaders Olympiakos by 12 points.

Goals from Christos Koutsospiros and Marcelo Oliveira put the visitors ahead in the 32nd and 66th minutes respectively, while Dimitrios Papadopoulos' 70th minute strike was not enough to get Panathinaikos back in the game.

Magdi appeared for the full 90 minutes in the defensive midfielder position and the Egyptian international gave a sublime performance to help his team hold on to the victory.

Elsewhere, Amr El Halawani's Apollon Kalamaria grabbed an away win that could prove vital in their relegation battle after they edged 1-0 past Ergotelis thanks to a 39th minute strike from Alban Bushi.

However, Al Halawani did not appear for Kalamaria in the win that took them to 12th place on 31 points.
