Bulgaria legendary striker Hristo Stoichkov has been announced as the next manager of struggling side Celta Vigo on Tuesday.

"The club has reached an agreement with the Bulgarian, who was up until now the national coach of his country," Celta said in a statement on their website.

The club slipped into the relegation zone and is now third from bottom. Celta sacked their previous coach Fernando Vazquez on Monday and hope Stoichkov will work out his magic to keep the team among the elites next season.

The 41 year old Bulgaria striker had just resigned from his job as a head coach of the national team after three years in charge.

Stoichkov fhas been underfire from the media especially after being held to a 0-0 home draw against outsiders Albania on March 28 in Euro 2008 qualifiers.

Bulgaria are currently third in Group G, two points behind Romania and five after leaders Netherlands.

Stoichkov is familiar to the Spanish football as he was a part of the Barcelona ‘Dream Team’ in the 90’s.
