Ahli defender Islam Al-Shater has been ruled out for the rest of the season after scans on Wednesday confirmed that he tore a groin muscle.

Al-Shater was stretched off Ahli's 2-0 Egyptian League victory over ENPPI last week and scans on his left thigh confirmed a six-week lay-off.

The 30-year-old full-back will miss Ahli's remaining five league games, the CAF Champions League clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday as well as the friendly against Barcelona next week.

On the other hand, Portuguese manager Manuel Jose will decide on Thursday whether to include striker Flavio Amado in the squad to face Sundowns depending on the fitness of the Angolan.

Flavio is suffering from a knee problem and there are major doubts over his availability for the African champions on Friday.

Jose will also announce the squad selected for the game after Thursday's training session.
