Strasbourg, where Egyptian winger Ahmed Abou-Mosallam plays, secured a vital 1-0 home win over Ligue 2 strugglers Brest, to edge closer into a Ligue1 promotion next season.

The only goal of the game came from Gabonese international forward Eric Mouloungui in the 29th minute.

Egyptian defender Ahmed Abou-Mosallam was sidelined following last month's hamstring injury which almost ruled him out for the rest of this term.

Strasbourg hold second place on 64 points, as they were largely helped with a slip-up by close rivals Caen, who were held 1-1 at Chateauroux to lie third on 62 points.

Fourth-placed Amiens also remained in the game with 60 points, following a 2-0 away win at Tours.

Strasbourg, Caen and Amiens will fight for the remaining two spots for promotion, after leaders Metz have booked their Ligue1 place.
