At Tersana Stadium, Ahed Abdul-Maguid and Hani Hassan put the home side in front in the 26th and 36th minutes respectively, Hassan Moussa pulled one back for Gaish at the stroke of halftime.
Kaheld Youssri’s 81st minute equalizer forced extra-time, where Gaish forward Anwar Masood scored the winner in the 106th minute.
First division club Mansoura produced the shock of the day when they ousted Arab Contractors with a 3-1 win, to book their place in the quarters where they will meet Zamalek.
Mansoura needed 35 seconds to take the lead through Mohamed Al-Morsi, but it didn't last for long as Sherif Al-Beyali scored the equalizer four minutes later.
However, Mansoura forward Al-Sherbiny Antar punished his former club by scoring a second-half brace in the 46th and 87th minute to send his team to a very tough task against the Cairo giants in the quarter finals.
In Tanta, league strugglers Asyut Petroleum thrashed relegation rivals Tanta 5-1 to book their quarterfinals place for the first time ever.
Asyut’s goals were scored by defender Ahmed Al-Sayed (twice), Sherif Nawareg, Ateya Saber (penalty) and Mohamed Ali (penalty), while Khaled Ammar scored Tanta’s consolation goal.
