Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle has agreed to let star man Luca Toni leave the club next season after a meeting with a player, the Serie A side announced on Monday.

Fiorentina have persistently marked Toni as a 'not for sale' player, but the Italian hitman has revealed his desire to live a new challenge.

"Thanking him for the contribution he has made to the team in the last two seasons with 49 goals, the president has considered it necessary to give into the wish of the forward to further his career at another club," a statement read on the club's Web site.

The prolific striker has been largely tipped for a move to German giants Bayern Munich, who are looking to strengthen their frontline after this season's poor show.

German reports suggested last month that the 29-year-old has agreed a 5-year-deal worth 18M Euros with the Bavarians.

However, Toni's agent Tulio Tinti insisted at the time that the Italian international will not make a decision before the end of the season. Tinti also confirmed that no deal will go through without the acceptance of Fiorentina.

But after the club has given the green light for Toni, the Allianz Arena seems the most probable destination the Italian.
