هل يخلف درنثي روبرتو كالرلوس في مركز الظهير الأيسر؟

Brazilian full-back Roberto Carlos is set to join Turkish champions Fenerbahce from Real Madrid after 11 years with the royal club, the Turkish side announced on Wednesday.

Fenerbahce president Murat Ozaydinli said that the Turkish club managed to seal the transfer in a meeting with the player’s agent on Tuesday.

"Our meeting for the transfer took only 15 to 20 minutes. We told them our principles and the deal was sealed," the vice-president was quoted saying on the club’s official site.

"We signed a player who perfectly fits Fenerbahce's traditions," added Ozaydinli.

Roberto Carlos is widely regarded as one of the best ever left-backs in the history, as the explosive full-back appeared in 120 caps for Brazil over more than 13 years.

The 34-year-old was linked with a move to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium last season, but he opted to stay in Madrid.

It is expected that the Brazilian will arrive at Istanbul in a few days to pen an official contract with the Yellow Canaries.

Roberto Carlos is the longest serving foreign player in the history of Spanish giants Real Madrid, whom he joined from Inter Milan in 1996.
