Zamalek striker Amr Zaki has denied on Wednesday that he is set to undergo a knee surgery which may rule him out of action for up to 12 months.

Zaki missed Egypt's friendly game against Kuwait after suffering pain in his right knee and reports said that he must undergo a surgery to cure the persistent problem.

"This pain has been annoying me since a long time ago but it became more severe when I played Egypt's African Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritania on an artificial pitch," Zaki told FilGoal.com.

"However, I intent to carry on until the season's end to participate in Zamalek's Egyptian Cup semi-final against Asyut Petroleum, then I will fly to Germany for treatment but without undergoing a surgery."

The 23-year-old hitman initially sustained the problem during his spell with Russia's Lokomotiv Moscow but refused to go under knife since then in order not to be ruled out of action for a long period.
