Esperance manager Jacky Dugueperoux believes his side didn't deliver its goods against ASEC Abidjan on Saturday and lacked in spirit what cost them a scoreless home draw.

"We missed our spirit and lucidity on the technical level. The players lost their pace," said the French tactician.

The Tunisian giants could have lost the whole points as ASEC had the upper hand in the second half and were very close from scoring.

"We have just finished our preparation phase and our international players got back a few days ago. I'm not giving any alibis but these circumstances affected our performances."

"In addition, ASEC is a strong opponent and in the local competition it's rare to play against such a caliber."

The coach also blamed his strikers' accuracy for the goalless draw.

"We didn't benefit from our attacking options and we lost too many balls in front. In one word we were out of form. There are many things to work on."
