Substitute Sofiane Younes came off the bench in the 82nd minute to score the winner three minutes later as hosts Algeria clinched a precious 2-0 victory over Egypt Olympic team on Tuesday in the opening game of the 2007 All African games.

Hadj Bougueche broke the deadlock with a 66th-minute header. Three minutes later the Egyptians leveled the score thanks to a 30-yard rocketing drive from Amr Halawani.

The game remained so close until Younes came into action to put the Algerians ahead again five minute before time. It was too little for the Pharaohs to get back in the game.

Moataz Eno appeared in the starting eleven but it was obvious he wasn't in form after lacking in regular football for more than eight months.

Algeria are temporary now on top of group B that includes also Egypt, Guinea and Zambia.
