HSV Hamburg thrashed Moldova's Daciu Chisinau 4-0 in the UEFA Intertoto third round second leg clash to reach the qualifying stages of the competition with a 5-1 aggregate score line.

Egypt striker Mohamed Zidan started the game for the Bundesliga side in place of the departed Ivorian Boubacar Sanogo, who recently joined Werder Bremen.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, but the deadlock was broken five minutes after the break through Belgium defender Vincent Kompany.

Dutch playmaker Rafael Van Der Vaart doubled the lead in the 71st minute, Namibian midfielder Collin Benjamin added a third five minutes later, before David Jarolim ensured the victory one minute from time.

HSV are now one match away from joining Bundesliga trio Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Nurnberg in the UEFA Cup next season.
