Hassan starts against Ivory Coast
Egypt coach Hassan Shehata selected seven European-based players in the 22-man squad to represent Egypt against Ivory Coast in a friendly on August 22nd.

Feyenoord goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy and Strasbourg defender Ahmed Abou-Mosallam were called up to the national team squad after a long period out.

Anderlecht playmaker Ahmed Hassan was recalled as expected, along with Hamburg's Mohamed Zidan, Ankaragucu's Ibrahim Saied and Sheffield United's Ahmed Fathi.

The list also included Tottenham Hotspur's unsettled midfielder Hossam Ghaly despite not being involved in Spurs' pre-season program.

Ghaly's Spurs teammate Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' was overlooked by Shehata, as the 24-year old striker has his own transfer concerns as well.

Turkish-based trio Abdul-Zaher Al-Saqqa, Mohamed Abdullah and Ayman Abdul-Aziz were also snubbed despite being a part of the national team's latest squad.
