Egypt’s most successful coach Mahmoud Al-Gohari has been appointed as the Egyptian FA manager on Thursday.

Al-Gohari will supervise all the national youths teams and will be a counselor for Egypt’s first team manager Hassan Shehata.

The veteran coach told a press conference that his mission will be preparing the U-19 team for the World Youth Championship hosted by Egypt in 2009 and the U-15 team for the 2016 Olympic Games.

He will be responsible for scheduling the Premier League fixtures as well as youth competitions.

Al-Gohari has a bright history with Egypt. He guided the Pharaohs to reaching the 1990 World Cup and winning the African Cup of Nations in 1998.

He also coached Egyptian giants Ahli and Zamalek, steering both sides to winning the African Champions League.
