Fans of Ayman Abdul-Aziz’s Trabzonspor invaded the pitch in the season opener against Sivasspor on Sunday, forcing the referee to abandon the game.

A fight between players in the injury time fueled the controversy as a number of the home fans stormed into the pitch, trying to attack Sivas' players, just five minutes after Trabzon took the lead.

Egyptian international Abdul-Aziz was pivotal in both the bright and ugly sides of the game.

He set up Ersen Martin to score the only goal then made a fierce tackle on an opponent to agnate the brawl.

Abdul-Aziz harshly tackled Sivas' Israeli striker Pini Balili, only for Balili's teammate Musa Aydin to engage with the Egyptian midfielder. The referee booked both players.

A Trabzon player tried to block the resulting free kick as both team players started pushing and shoving before a home fan broke into the ground and attacked Sivas' Mohamed Yildiz.

Tens followed the invader, leaving no choice for referee Bulent Demirlek but to call the game off.

A decision will be made by the Turkish Football Association regarding the final result of the game, which is likely to be in Sivas' favor.
