The highly rated defender has asked Sevilla officials to listen to offers for him last week after the London based club showed interest, but the club did not seem impressed by the English offer.
"Sevilla would like to make clear... that they have rejected Chelsea's offer because it is a very long way from the value put on the player by the club," Sevilla said in a statement on their website on Thursday.
Media reports on Tuesday have suggested the two clubs have agreed a deal worth 32 million euros plus an extra 4 million depending on results for the 24-year-old player, but things seem to have stalled after Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich allegedly refused to pay more than 25 million.
"To all intent and purpose Daniel remains a Sevilla player," Sevilla’s statement added.
However, Alves' agent, Geronimo Suarez, remains confident the deal will go through.
"We are expecting a solution between the clubs and are confident they are going to reach a deal," Suarez told Sky Sports News.
"Sevilla have good reasons to maintain a hard position for the player because he is a star for them and they want him to stay there.
"It is not in my hands, it is in the hands of the directors of Chelsea and Sevilla, but we can hope the solution will arrive as soon as possible."
Alves was pivotal for Sevilla's UEFA and Spanish King’s Cup success last season. He was also a member of the Brazilian squad that won the 2007 Copa America title in Venezuela earlier this summer.
