Ahli playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika is almost certain to miss his side's Egyptian league derby game against Zamalek next month with an ankle injury.

Abou-Treika suffered a sprained ankle after being harshly challenged by a Sudanese defender during Ahli's 3-0 defeat against Sudan's Hilal in the African Champions League on Sunday.

Ahli team doctor Ehab Ali initially stated that the Egypt midfielder could be out for four weeks, but scans proved that his absence is likely to be extended to six weeks.

Abou-Treika will be ruled out of Ahli's crucial Champions League game against ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast on September 2nd.

Moreover, the talented playmaker is now likely to miss the Zamalek game on September 17th.

Meanwhile, Ahli duo Emad Meteb and Mohamed Shawki, who are set for trials at Middlesbrough this weekend, will only undergo medical tests at the Yorkshire club.

The duo will have to make a swift return to Cairo in order to be ready for Ahli's league game against Ghazl Mahalla on Saturday.
