Brazilian midfielder Emerson has left Real Madrid after just one season to join European champions AC Milan, both clubs announced on Wednesday.

Real announced on their official web site that they have reached an agreement with Milan for the Brazilian, as the Serie A side also confirmed the deal.

However, the transfer fee was not mentioned for the 31-year old, who has been pleading for an exit from the Bernabeu after the sacking of Fabio Capello this summer.

Emerson played before in Italy for AS Roma and Juventus, before joining Real in 2006 where he helped the club to the Primera Liga title last season.
