Egypt seek a much-needed win

Egypt have jumped two places to reach 40th position in the August edition of the monthly ranking for national teams launched by FIFA.

Despite not playing any games since the last announcement, the African champions made the top 40 before facing Ivory Coast in a friendly on Wednesday.

Continentally, Egypt lie sixth behind Cameroon (16), Nigeria (26), Ivory Coast (28), Morocco (34) and Tunisia (36).

The biggest achievement this month though came from Asian champions Iraq, who excelled 16 spots to lie in 64th place after they clinched the Asian Nations Cup last month.
