France coach Raymond Domenech was handed a touchline ban from his side's Euro 2008 qualifier clash against Italy on September 8th, UEFA announced on Monday.

Domenech will be also fined 6,000 Euros for bringing the game into disrepute, following his inappropriate remarks in an interview with Le Parisien newspaper.

The France manager accused Italy of bribing the referee in a 2000 Sydney Olympic Games qualifier between the two nations.

UEFA chief Michel Platini said that Domenech should provide evidence for his claims or else he will be facing sanctions.

The French Football Federation (FFF) have three days to decide with the France coach whether to appeal the case or not.

Domenech was in charge of Les Bleus when they lost the 2006 World Cup final on penalties against Italy, in a match that witnessed the infamous row between Italy's Marco Materazzi and France's Zinedine Zidane, where the latter saw red.
