Mohamed Salah is set to take charge of Ittihad, succeeding current coach Mohamed Omar, who will leave the team after the Zamalek game on Wednesday.

Omar decided to quit the Alexandria-based club after he was booed by the fans during the team's 2-1 home defeat against Arab Contractors last Saturday.

Ittihad vice-chairman Mohamed Moselhi said that the club approached a number of coaches for the vacancy, but the free Salah seems to be likely option.

"We almost agreed terms with Salah, who is currently available, the deal should be finalized after the Zamalek game," Moselhi told Modern Sport TV.

The names of Yemen coach Mohsen Saleh and Zamalek youth teams supervisor Mahmoud Saad have been mentioned, but the duo are unlikely to leave their jobs.

Meanwhile, Ittihad skipper Hossam Hassan will not take part of the Zamalek game as the 41-year old striker is injured.
