Zamalek official Omar Haridi said that the club board will convene later in the day to discuss taking legal action against Shobeir for his public defamation of Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas on Egyptian television.
Shobeir, a former captain of Zamalek's arch-rivals Ahli, had come under attack from the White’s fans during the local league game against Ittihad Alexandria on Wednesday.
Zamalek's fans were protesting the Egyptian FA's decision to suspend star striker Amr Zaki for one game and a fine of EGP 10,000 on the eve of the match, which ended 2-0 in favor of the Cairo giants.
However, Zamalek’s fans singled out Shobeir who has been repeatedly accused of overly criticizing the club and its officials in his sports talk show.
Shobeir responded to the chants when he called in during the post-game analysis to hit out at Zamalek, its officials and fans.
"I’m not surprised," said Shobeir. "If their leader (Abbas) acts in such an ill-mannered way, then what do you expect from the fans."
Haridi said that Shobeir's comment will not go unnoticed.
"It is completely unacceptable for Shobeir to go on TV and make such comments against the great Zamalek club and its respectable president," he said.
"We asked the Egyptian television to provide us with the footage from the show where Shobeir called in and insulted Mr. Abbas because we are planning to take legal action against him.
"Shobeir is also biased against Zamalek and is continuously attacking the club’s board members," Haridi added.
Haridi said that Zamalek's board will also discuss the Egyptian FA's decision to suspend and fine Zaki for insulting the referee in the game against Baladeya.
Zaki was caught swearing on TV after the referee made a call against him. However, the incident went unnoticed by the referee and match commissioner, yet the FA based its decision on video footage.
"The board is unhappy with the FA decision regarding Amr Zaki," said Haridi.
"We will discuss both matters in Thursday's meeting before making an official statement," he added.
